Los Payos, a Spanish musical group that played rumba and Latin pop from Seville, was formed by Eduardo RodrÃguez Rodway, Luis Javier Moreno Salguero, and José Moreno Hurtado. The trio initially gained attention with their singles "Como Un Adios / La Sueca" and "Adios Angelina / La Gorda". In 1969, Rafael León joined the group, and they achieved significant success with the release of "Maria Isabel", which became one of the biggest hits of the decade. In 1971, Los Payos released their album, Lo mejor de Los Payos, featuring notable tracks like "Pequeña Anita / Adios A Jaimaca" and "Maria Isabel / Compasion". Despite subsequent releases, the group never matched the success of "Maria Isabel". Los Payos disbanded in 1976.
