Los Belkingâs is a Peruvian rock band from Lima, formed in 1964. The ensemble was founded by Wilfredo Sandoval Moreno and guitarist Raúl Herrera. The group is recognized for blending rock with jazz and Latin/Caribbean rhythms. The original lineup included Sandoval, Herrera, and vocalist Ernesto Reinaldi. The band performed its debut at a matinee in the Cine Riva Agüero and embarked on its first provincial tour to Tarma in 1965. In November 1966, the band won a musical contest organized by the label El Virrey, which led to their first recording contract. The band's debut single, which included the tracks "La Playa / El Guazon", was released in January 1967. The group released its debut studio album, El Sonido De Los Belking's, in mid-1967. The work included the tracks "Bolido De Fuego / Hojas Muertas" and "Ilusiónate Chica" and reached sales of 10,000 copies within its first month of release. Subsequent releases included the albums Los Belkingâs (1968) and Ayer Y Hoy (1973). Los Belkingâs became inactive in 1973. Following the international release of the compilation Instrumental Waves (1966 - 1973) through Nuevos Medios in 2003, the group resumed activity and returned to live performance. A further compilation, Lo Mejor De Los Belkings, was published in 1994.
