KarlâGerhard Lundkvist, born 17â¯Mayâ¯1934 in Tillberga, Sweden, was a singer and producer known as Little Gerhard who helped pioneer rock music in Sweden during the 1950s and 1960s. After learning accordion and guitar at the Trocadero nightclub in Amsterdam, he began performing in Stockholmâs Nalen club and adopted the stage name Little Gerhard in 1957 when he signed with the Karusell label. His first single, "What Youâve Done to Me", launched in 1958 and achieved commercial success, followed by a cover of "Buona Sera" that became his biggest hit and attracted international attention, including a recording session in German with Die Hansen and an encounter with Elvis Presley during the latterâs military service. Lundkvist released the single "JukeâBoxâBaby" in 1959. The 1960s saw a shift to Swedish-language material under the name Lille Gerhard, with tracks such as "Ma Marie", "Petter och Frida", and "Den sista mohikanen" charting domestically. In 1961 he transitioned to production work at Cupol Records, discovering Agnetha Fältskog and producing her first three albums before her ABBA career. He participated in Melodifestivalen 1982 with Yvonne Olsson on "Hand i hand med dig", which placed eighth on the Swedish singles chart.
