Biography

Lissa's musical interest originated with her grandfather, an international barbershop quartet champion, and as a child she'd sing at her local Lutheran church. "I was always humming," she says, "making up little songs and melodies, writing poems and putting them to music." At nine she played the lead in an 80-day production of Annie, later teaching herself guitar and playing the local coffee bar circuit. Moving to LA she secured a residency at Crane's Hollywood Tavern, which led to a five-track EP Why You Runnin' with Bill Reynolds (of Band Of Horses) and resulted in further collaborations with Ed Harcourt and Jacquire King. After touring with artists like Ray LaMontagne, The Low Anthem and Lenny Kravitz, Lissa was signed by Sony Records, going to Nashville to record her debut album Catching A Tiger, which was produced by Jacquire King and released in the summer of 2010. It included the singles In Sleep and When I'm Alone and was followed by the Cuckoo EP, which features a live cover of Lady Gaga's Bad Romance.
