Born on 28 May 1955, Danish pop/rock singer and songwriter Lis Sørensen began her musical journey in 1970 recording the album Itâs So Easy with her music teacher Holger Laumann. While studying music pedagogy at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus/Aalborg, she rose to prominence in the 1970s as a member of Shit & Chanel, Denmarkâs first all-female rock band. She also lent her vocals to prominent acts including Gasolinâ and Sebastian. In the early 1980s, she joined forces with Anne Linnet and Sanne Salomonsen in the influential Anne Linnet Band. In 1983, Sørensen debuted as a solo artist with Himmelen ned pÃ¥ Jorden and later recorded Ednaswapâs Torn as Brændt. Her solo career peaked with the 1989 album Hjerternes sang, selling 350,000 copies. In 1996, she released a successful compilation and, in 2001, collaborated in the group Cowgirls.
