Biography
Thorgeir Stubø, born on November 12, 1943, in Narvik, Norway, was a jazz guitarist and composer. Influenced by American jazz musicians like John Coltrane and Wes Montgomery, he began playing guitar at an early age. In the 1960s, Stubø moved to Oslo to study philology at the University of Oslo, gaining recognition for his expressive guitar style in the local jazz scene. His first album, Notice, was released in 1981 under Odin Records and won a Spellemannprisen award that year. He continued to release albums such as Jazz Alive (1984) and Everything We Love (1985), collaborating with artists like Doug Raney. He passed away on October 22, 1986. In recognition of his contributions to Norwegian jazz, the Thorgeir Stubø Memorial Fund was established in 1987.
