Biography
Made up of singer Jillian Hervey (daughter of Vanessa Williams born 1989) and multi-instrumentalist and producer Lucas Goodman, aka Astro Raw, who met at Boston University, retro R&B and soul duo Lion Babe emerged in late 2012 with the track "Treat Me Like Fire", posted on SoundCloud. After a stage invitation from rapper Childish Gambino, Lion Babe returned the favor when recording the track "Jump Hi" for the Interscope label, which released a namesake debut EP in 2014. On the heels of a collaboration with British duo Disclosure for the track "Hourglass" on the album Caracal (2015), followed by a tour, Lion Babe completed the recording of his debut album Begin. This, delivered in February 2016, serves as a review with the inclusion of three other previously released singles. A few months later, in October, it was with a cover of the Tom Jones classic "She's a Lady" that the duo reached number 65 in the French charts.
