Silvia LÃlian Barrie Knapp, born 30 March 1948 in Brazil, was a Brazilian vocalist who began singing with her childhood friend Leno in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, before forming the duo Leno & LÃlian in 1965. The pair achieved hits such as âPobre Meninaâ and âDevolvaâmeâ during the Jovem Guarda era, with the duoâs initial phase ending in the late 1960s. After periods performing together and apart, LÃlian Barrie Knapp pursued a solo career, known for singles such as âSou Rebeldeâ (1978), and released solo albums including LÃlian Knapp in 2001. She also participated in the underground project Kynna in 2008. Throughout her career her recordings have earned her a place among Brazilian singers, with more than 370 songs recorded by various artists, and her solo success with âSou Rebeldeâ reportedly sold around one million copies. LÃlian Barrie Knapp died on 22 February 2025 at age 76 after a battle with an aggressive pelvic tumor, leaving a legacy in Brazilian rock and pop music.
