Durk Derrick Banks, aka Lil Durk, is an American hip-hop artist from Chicago, Illinois. He was born on October 19, 1992, and released his first mixtape, I'm a Hitta, in 2011. Following the releases of additional mixtapes like 2012's I'm Still a Hitta, 2013's Signed to the Streets, and 2014's Signed to the Streets 2, he released his debut studio album, Remember My Name, in 2015. The album went to number 2 on Billboard's Top Rap Albums chart and peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200. One year later, Lil Durk 2x reached number 4 on the Top Rap Albums Chart, number 5 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart, and Number 29 on the Billboard 200. Another mixtape, Bloodas, appeared in 2017 and featured collaborations with Tee Grizzley, while the album Signed to the Streets 3 was released in 2018 and peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200. Lil Durk's 2019 release Love Songs 4 the Streets 2 went to number 2 on the Top Rap Albums and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts and number 4 on the Billboard 200. Having already collaborated with acts like Jeremih, Dej Loaf, Ty Dolla $ign, Yo Gotti, Young Dolph, and Kevin Gates, Lil Durk partnered with Lil Baby for the 2021 album The Voice of the Heroes, which topped the Billboard 200 in America and climbed to number 5 in the UK. Featuring cameos by Future, Gunna, Summer Walker, and Morgan Wallen, his seventh full-length 7220 saw the light in 2022 and reached number 1 on both the Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, becoming his second consecutive chart-topping album. It was followed in 2023 by Almost Healed, a sequel to 2020's The Voice that found the rapper dealing with his own musical and personal growth. Almost Healed debuted at number 3 on the US pop charts and featured cameos by Alicia Keys, J. Cole, Chief Wuk, Future, 21 Savage, Kodak Black, Rob49, Juice Wrld, and Morgan Wallen. Following the success of Almost Healed, Lil Durk kept his momentum going into 2024 with a feature on 21 Savage’s track “Dangerous” from American Dream, and scored his first Grammy win for Best Melodic Rap Performance with the J. Cole-assisted hit “All My Life.” He initially teased Love Songs 4 the Streets 3 with singles like “Old Days,” “Went Hollywood for a Year,” and “Turn Up a Notch,” but later shifted focus to a new project. After a brief delay due to legal issues, his next studio album Deep Thoughts was released on March 28, 2025.
