Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe, also known as Lil Tecca, is an American rapper of Jamaican descent, born in New York City on August 26, 2002. Originally from the borough of Queens, he grew up on Long Island and initially pursued a career as a basketball player before focusing on rap, of which he had been an avid listener since childhood. Working with Lil Gummybear on "Tectri", Lil Tecca independently released a series of five singles in 2018. The following year, he found success with the track "Ran$om", peaking at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, attracting over 1 billion streams online. In August 2019, Lil Tecca's debut mixtape, We Love You Tecca, climbed to number 4 on the US Billboard 200 and was certified platinum. A year later, his studio album Virgo World peaked at number 10 and featured guest appearances from artists such as Nav, Skrillex, Polo G, Lil Durk, Lil Uzi Vert, and Internet Money. Additional collaborators such as Lil Yachty, Iann Dior, and Chief Keef contributed to his second mixtape, We Love You Tecca 2 (2021), which saw tracks such as "Never Left" and the duet "Repeat It" with Gunna gain significant traction worldwide. Several more tracks followed over the next two years, including "500 lbs" (2023), which peaked at number 24 on the rap charts. His third album Tec was released in October 2023 and debuted at number 11 on the US Top 200 albums chart. In 2024, his third album Plan A achieved a better score, ranking number 9 (number 2 on the rap charts), including a collaboration with Don Tolliver. In 2025, after the release of "Dark Thoughts" (number 28), the album Dopamine was Lil Tecca's first number one album on Billboard 200, including other single "Owa Owa", and a featuring of Ken Carson on "Tic Tac Toe".
