Biography

Dominique Jones, also known as Lil Baby, is a Grammy-nominated rapper who played an influential role in popularizing trap music during the late 2010s and early 2020s. Born on December 3, 1994, in Atlanta, Georgia, he released four mixtapes in 2017 before making his full-length debut with 2018's Harder Than Ever. The platinum-selling album climbed to Number Two on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart, while the single "Yes Indeed" -- featuring an appearance by Drake -- topped the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart and reached Number Six on the Hot 100. Another platinum-certified release, the Drip Harder mixtape, was released later that same year and continued Lil Baby's reign of the Billboard charts, The EP's biggest single, "Drip Too Hard," peaked at Number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went nine-times platinum. Lil Baby released his follow-up album, My Turn, in 2020. The album peaked at Number 1 on the Billboard 200, climbed to Number 6 in the UK, went four-times platinum, and earned two Grammy nominations, signaling Lil Baby's popularity not only with fans of hip-hop, but also in the global pop mainstream. He then teamed up with fellow rapper Lil Durk to record The Voice of the Heroes, which was released in 2021 and marked his second record to top the Billboard 200. One year later, he returned to Number 1 with It's Only Me, his third studio album. It's Only Me fared equally well on the Billboard Hot 100, where "Real Spill" reached Number 10, "Forever" reached Number 8, and "California Breeze" peaked at Number 4. Subject of the documentary film of Karam Gill, Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby, the rapper topped once again the US charts with Wham (2025), an acronym for Who Hard as Me, featuring collaborations with Young Thug and Future, GloRilla, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, Rylo Rodriguez and Rod Wave.
