Biography

Les Skalopes, a French ska group originating from Bures-sur-Yvette in Essonne, formed during the winter of 1997. Initially consisting of 10 musicians, the band began performing extensively to promote their unique blend of ska infused with melancholy, resignation, hope, and irony. Their breakthrough came through opening for notable acts such as Emir Kusturica and the No Smoking Orchestra and The Toasters. By 2009, the group stabilized around six core members: Chantal (vocals/melodica), Ben (guitar/backing vocals), David R (bass/backing vocals), Julie (alto saxophone), Eric "Brutus" (tenor saxophone), and Antoine (drums). Les Skalopes released their debut album, Chasse à l'enfant, in 2005, which was featured in an article by Charlie Hebdo in 2015, and followed by Ya vendra mi turno in 2009.
