Les Paul & Mary Ford, an American husband-and-wife duo, began their career in 1950. Both were guitarists and vocalists who met through Gene Autry in 1945. They first appeared in the pop charts in 1950 with their debut single, "Mockin' Bird Hill", and released a total of 28 hits for Capitol Records between 1950 and 1957. Their breakthrough came with "How High the Moon", which topped the charts for nine weeks, followed by "Vaya Con Dios", which held the number one spot for eleven weeks. They secured five top ten hits within nine months in 1952-1953, including "My Baby's Coming Home" and "Bye Bye Blues". Their 1954 version of "I'm a Fool to Care" reached number six on the charts. The duo were also known for creating a DIY recording studio in their garage, where they used multi-track recording techniques to produce many of their hits. In 2009, Les Paul & Mary Ford were inducted into the Hit Parade Hall of Fame. They have a star at 1541 Vine Street in the Recording section of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The duo divorced acrimoniously in December 1964, which also ended their collaboration.
