Biography

Lauren Christy is a British songwriter and record producer. She began her career as a solo artist in the early 1990s after signing publishing and recording deals with EMI and Polygram Records. Her 1993 self-titled debut album included “The Color of the Night.” She received a nomination for Best New Artist at the 1994 American Music Awards, and “The Color of the Night” also brought her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song. Christy later shifted toward songwriting and production work and co-founded the production trio The Matrix in 1999 with Graham Edwards and Scott Spock. The group is best known for producing Avril Lavigne’s debut album Let Go (2002), including the singles “Complicated,” “Sk8er Boi,” and “I’m with You.” The Matrix received seven Grammy nominations, and “Complicated” earned an Ivor Novello Award for International Hit of the Year.
