A saxophonist, singer, producer, and sound engineer born in London on November 1, 1992, Laura Misch emerged from the British experimental and electronic jazz scene in the late 2010s. The sister of musician Tom Misch, she first gained attention with self-produced EPs such as Playground (2017) and Lonely City (2019), blending saxophone loops, vocals, and electronic production. Her work synthesizing jazz instrumentation, ambient electronics, and composition led to the album Sample the Sky (2023), which established her as part of the contemporary British ânew jazzâ and experimental electronic music movement. She then complemented the album with its organic counterpart, Sample the Earth (2024), blending field recordings of nature and acoustic soundscapes. This exploration of field recording led to a new musical direction, culminating in the album Lilith (2026), whose electronic layer incorporates sounds from caves, the coastal landscapes of her home region, Cornwall, and a trip to Greece, using hydrophones, geophones, and environmental microphones. Alongside her studio work, Laura Misch is known for her immersive performances that go beyond the framework of traditional concerts, including sound walks, workshops, and listening experiences that invite the audience to explore rural and urban environments.
