Léon Berben (born 2 December 1970 in Heerlen, Netherlands) is a Dutch organist and harpsichordist. He studied at the Royal Conservartory of The Hague and the Sweelinck Conservatorium Amsterdam. In March 2000, he joined Musica Antiqua Köln as harpsichordist, performing until the ensembleâs dissolution in 2006, after which he pursued a solo career focused on 16th to 18th century repertoire. His recordingsâ"Praetorius: Von allen Menschen abgewandt" (2004), "Hassler: Ich Gieng Einmal Spatieren" (2006), "Byrd: Clarifica me" (2007), "Bach: Toccatas" (2009), "Bach: Die Kunst der Fuge" (2011) and "Bach: Clavier-Ãbung III" (2014)âearned the Record Critics Award, Diapason dâOr and Choc de Le Monde de la musique. He has been the titular organist of the Gothic organ in Ostönnen and senior organist in residence of the Hagerbeer organ of the Pieterskerk in Leiden.
