Lajos Dudas, born on February 18, 1941, in Budapest, Hungary, is a jazz clarinetist and composer. He studied at the Béla Bartók Conservatory and the Franz Liszt Academy of Music from 1958 to 1963. In the early 1970s, he moved to Neuss, Germany, where he taught clarinet and saxophone until 2004. His breakthrough came with "Urban Blues", which earned him first prize and international recognition at the 11th International Jazz Contest of Monaco in 1982. In 1992, he recorded Concertino for Clarinet and Orchestra with the Cologne Radio Orchestra. His discography included albums like Change of Time (1990), Seitenblicke (2003), and Return to the Future (2018). He also collaborated with notable musicians such as Karl Berger and Attila Zoller on various recordings and tours.
