Biography

Formed in 1995, La Sonora Carruseles is a salsa and boogaloo band from Medellin, Colombia. Originally formed by Colombian label Discos Fuentes, the band members were handpicked by engineer and musical director Mario Rincón Parra. The band members came together, and, after a single rehearsal, they were signed to the label and released their debut album, Espectacular, in 1995. Since the release of the debut album, La Sonora Carruseles has released close to 20 studio albums and compilations including Salsa y Fuego (1996), Heavy Salsa (1998), De Una Vez Gozando (2002), Salsa Pa Bacanes (2004), and many more. While the group’s line-up was fluid, they became a popular live attraction and have performed throughout Latin America and Europe. Their music has been featured on televised competitions and their 2003 song “La Salsa la Traigo Yo!” was featured on President Barack Obama’s 2015 personal #POTUS playlist, which garnered the group worldwide attention.
