Biography

La Barranca, a Mexican rock band from Mexico City, was formed in 1994 by guitarist José Manuel Aguilera and bassist Federico Fong. Their debut album, El Fuego de la Noche, released in April 1996, garnered critical acclaim, including recognition from La Banda Elástica of Los Angeles. The band's lineup solidified with the addition of Alfonso André on drums. In 1997, they released their second album, Tempestad, under BMG-Ariola. Throughout the early 2000s, La Barranca continued to evolve, releasing albums such as Denzura (2003), Cielo Protector EP (2004), and El Fluir (2005). The latter was noted by Rolling Stone Mexico among the top ten albums of the year. In 2008, they released Providencia, marking a new sonic direction for the band.
