Biography

Seguida, a Latin rock group from New York, was formed in 1974 by musicians of Puerto Rican heritage. Inspired by Carlos Santana's "Oye Como Va," they initially formed two groups: Latin Soul Inc. and Devoshun. Under the leadership of Randy Ortiz, Angel Nater Jr., and Louie Perez, Seguida blended rock and salsa. Their debut album, Love Is..., was released in 1974 under Fania Records and featured the hit "Mambo Rock." The group toured extensively, opening for acts like Willie Colon and Sly and the Family Stone. In 1976, they released their second album, On Our Way to Tomorrow.... Notable songs include "Yo Nunca Te Olvidare," which received international airplay. Seguida's innovative approach to Latin rock earned them the 1976 Latin NY Magazine "Best Latin Rock Album" award.
