Biography

Cosmic Runner is a fictional music project created by Scottish musician Drew McFadyen in 2013. The story behind the project is that the music was originally composed by an East German composer named Martin R. Zeichnete for the GDR's Olympic training program between 1972 and 1983. The aim was to improve the physical and mental performance of athletes through the hypnotic, motoric rhythms of Krautrock, with recognizable influences from bands such as Kraftwerk and Neu! Kosmischer Läufer's music comprises a mixture of krautrock and electronic music, often with pulsating beats and flowing melodies. Well-known albums include Kosmischer Läufer: Volume 1 (2013), Volume 2 (2014), Volume 3 (2015) and Volume 5 (2023). The project has been well received by fans of Krautrock and critics alike, particularly for its authentic homage to the style of the 1970s. The music remains a popular example of modern interpretations of Krautrock and has received worldwide attention through various releases.
