Sharon Kovacs, born 15â¯Aprilâ¯1990 in Baarlo, Netherlands, is a Dutch singer whose early training at the Rock City Institute in Eindhoven culminated in a 2013 graduation. Her professional breakthrough came in 2014 when she collaborated with producer Oscar Holleman to record the EP My Love, partly recorded in Cuba, and the single "My Love", which earned her the 3FM Serious Talent designation on 1â¯Juneâ¯2014. The same year she performed at festivals such as North Sea Jazz and Lowlands, and on 2â¯October 2014 she received the NPO Radioâ¯6 Soul & Jazz Award for Best Soul & Jazz Talent. Her debut studio album Shades of Black was released 2â¯Aprilâ¯2015, followed by a club tour and performances across Europe, Turkey, and Israel. In 2017 she issued the single "Sugar Pill" and in 2018 the album Cheap Smell, preceded by the singles "Black Spider" and "It's the Weekend"; Cheap Smell entered the charts in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands, reaching Numberâ¯7 in the Netherlands. Subsequent singles-including "Snake Charmer" with Parov Stelar (2019) and "Tutti Frutti Tequila" (2021)-expanded her international profile. Her third album, Child of Sin, was released 13â¯Januaryâ¯2023, coâproduced by Jonathan Quarmby and featuring a duet with Till Lindemann; the title track "Child of Sin" entered the Dutch Album Topâ¯100 at Numberâ¯5 on 20â¯Januaryâ¯2023.
