Biography

Konstantin Yakovlevich Lifschitz is a Russian pianist. At age five, he was admitted to the Gnessin School of Music in Moscow, where he studied under Tatiana Zelikman. At thirteen, he gave his first major recital at the House of Trade Unions in Moscow. Lifschitz appeared with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, under conductors including Bernard Haitink, Fabio Luisi, Yuri Temirkanov, Neville Marriner, and Claudio Scimone. He received the Echo Klassik Award for Best International Newcomer in 1995 and a Grammy nomination in 1996 for his recording of the Goldberg Variations.
