Biography

Creating tear-jerking, stadium-filling, anthemic guitar pop, Dublin lads Kodaline have earned comparisons with Coldplay, Mumford & Sons and Radiohead as their epic brand of cinematic indie rock steadily built a formidable reputation. School friends from the age of eight, Stephen Garrigan, Vinny May, Jason Boland and Mark Prendergast started playing together in 2005 under the name 21 Demands and appeared in a TV talent contest called 'You're a Star' which led to a deal with Universal and the Irish number one single 'Give Me a Minute'. They were just teenagers at the time but, after dropping out of college, they re-emerged in 2011 and started building an online following thanks to EP 'The Kodaline'. Championed by UK TV/radio presenters Fearne Cotton and Zane Lowe, they were nominated for the BBC Sound of 2013 poll and their track 'All I Want' was used in an episode of 'Grey's Anatomy' before debut album 'In a Perfect World' (2013) topped the Irish charts and reached number three in the UK. Heart-felt and rousing in sound, they went on to support Bruce Springsteen and play at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds Festivals. They revealed the title of their second album as 'Coming Up for Air', released in 2014, which charted at number four in the UK Albums Chart. Their third album, 'Politics of Living', was released in 2018.
