Klimt 1918, an Italian alternative rock band from Rome, was founded in 1999 by brothers Marco and Paolo Soellner after the dissolution of their previous death metal act, Another Day. The group released its first effort, Secession Makes Post-Modern Music, a self-produced demo recorded by Giuseppe Orlando in 2000. This debut caught the attention of My Kingdom Music, leading to the band's signing with the label and the release of their full-length album Undressed Momento in 2003. The following year, they signed with Prophecy Productions and released Dopoguerra in 2005, which was critically acclaimed and supported by a European tour. In December 2016, they released the double album Sentimentale Jugend.
