Kings of the Sun was formed in Sydney, Australia, in 1986 by brothers Clifford Hoad and Jeffrey Hoad. The duo had previously played in the Young Lions before relocating from Gold Coast to Melbourne and later Sydney, where they recruited bassist Anthony Ragg and guitarist Ron Thiessen. Their debut single, "Bottom Of My Heart", issued in October 1986, entered the top 50 of the Kent Music Report, marking their breakthrough and leading to a brief contract with Mushroom Records. In 1988 Kings of the Sun released their selfâtitled debut album, Kings Of The Sun, produced by Eddie Kramer; the single "Serpentine" peaked at number 48 on the Australian charts. The band followed with Full Frontal Attack in 1990 and Resurrection in 1993, both issued through Mushroom, and toured extensively, supporting acts such as Joe Satriani, Kiss, and Lita Ford. After a period of lineup changes and a brief hiatus, the Hoad brothers reunited in 2010 to form Clifford Hoad's Kings of the Sun, releasing Rock Til Ya Die in 2013, Razed on Rock in 2016, and Playin' to the Heavens in 2017.
