Waverly Walter Alford III, known professionally as King Gordy, was born on August 18, 1977, in Detroit, Michigan. He began his music career as a rapper in the early 2000s, initially gaining traction in the local underground hip-hop scene. In 2003, he released his debut solo album The Entity, which featured production by Eminem and guest appearances from other notable rappers. King Gordy also appeared in the film 8 Mile as a fictional rapper named "Big O." He released several albums, including Van Dyke and Harper Music, Cobain's Diary, The Great American Weed Smoker, and Xerxes The God-King. Notable collaborations include work with underground hip-hop group Fat Killahz, horrorcore supergroup How to Gag a Maggot, and hardcore rap duos Last American Rock Stars and Even Heathens. In late 2018, he launched his self-owned record label, King of Van Dyke Entertainment.
