Biography

Korean-American singer-songwriter and composer Kim Woo-sung (February 25, 1993) first rose to prominence as the vocalist and guitarist of South Korean rock band The Rose, whose debut single "Sorry" was released in 2017. Born in Wonju, Gangwon, South Korea, Kim Woo-sung moved to the US at a young age and later auditioned for the first season of the reality TV show K-pop Star, but after he was eliminated from the audition turned his attention to teaching English for a short while instead. He re-started his music career, firstly with The Rose and eventually embarking on a solo journey in 2019. His debut EP Wolf was released in July of that year and peaked at number 19 on South Korea's Gaon Chart. Kim Woo-sung unleashed his full-length album, Genre, in December 2021 and a second EP, Moth, emerged in 2022. He began releasing studio albums in 2021 with Genre and contributed on an Agust D track ("Snooze") with the late Ryuichi Sakamoto in 2023. In 2024, he dropped his second album, 4444.
