Biography
Jay Steven Kapossy, known as Jay Chang, is an American singer based in South Korea, born on March 8, 2001, in New Jersey to a diverse family with Filipino-Chinese and Irish-Hungarian roots. His early exposure to the music industry through his father, a musician, inspired him to pursue a career in music. He first encountered K-pop as a teenager and moved to South Korea after being scouted by MBC in 2018 to participate in the reality show Under Nineteen, though he was eliminated early. Chang made his solo debut with the single "Is You" in November 2020 and later joined FM Entertainment where he released several more singles including "Liar." His stint on Mnet's Boys Planet did not result in joining the final group, but he continued to make strides by releasing his first EP, Late Night, in 2023 and subsequently debuting in the boy band One Pact later that year. His successful participation in another reality show, Build Up: Vocal Boy Group Survival, led to his inclusion in the group B.D.U in 2024. Chang released his second EP Neighborhood featuring collaborations with his bandmates in November 2024.
