Biography

Khemmis is an American doom metal band from Denver, Colorado, formed in 2012 by guitarists and vocalists Ben Hutcherson and Phil Pendergast, bassist Dan Beiers, and drummer Dan Barnett. The band’s name refers to the ancient Egyptian city of Achmim. Khemmis released a self-titled EP in 2012, followed by their debut album Absolution in 2015, which appeared in Decibel magazine’s top 10 albums of the year. Their second album, Hunted (2016), was also critically acclaimed and led to a U.S. tour with Enslaved, Wolves in the Throne Room, and Myrkur. In 2017, Khemmis signed with Nuclear Blast and released their third album, Desolation, which reached number 74 on the German album charts. The band’s style combines doom metal with traditional heavy metal melodies, drawing influence from bands such as Mercyful Fate, Iron Maiden, and Thin Lizzy.
