Biography

Kes the Band is a band from Trinidad formed in 2005 by brothers Kees Dieffenthaller (vocals), Jon Dieffenthaller (guitar) and Hans Dieffenthaller (drums), with bassist Riad Boochoon. Other members join them along the way, including Mario Callender and DJ Robbie Persaud. After a debut album entitled Three Baldheads and a Dread, released in 2006 and featuring the song "The Calling" in the FIFA 06 game, the local soca band went on to record albums on their own label: Lion (2007), On in 5 (2009) with the hit track "Let Me Know", and Wotless (2011), which earned the band a nomination at the BET Soul Train Music Awards. Later that year saw the release of the album Stereotype, featuring a collaboration with reggae singer Tessanne Chin, followed in 2012 by Wired, the first credited to Kes. One of his tracks, "Stress Away", is remixed with the participation of rapper Snoop Dogg. Still under the Kes name, the 2014 album MadMen Productions Presents Kes was released, featuring contributions from Timeka Marshall, Swappi, Jenna De Leon and Michelle X. The group, regularly scheduled to perform at Trinidad's annual carnival, also collaborates with Gyptian, Kernal Roberts and Nailah Blackman, and even Olympic champion Usain Bolt during a performance in 2017. The album We Home, released in 2020, was followed four years later by Man with No Door, featuring guests Jason Perry and Michaël Brun, Tano, Busy Signal, Dwala and Queen Omega. Later that year, the single Cocoa Tea was released .
