Karcius, a progressive rock band, was formed in 2001 in Montreal, Canada. The band initially consisted of Thomas Brodeur on drums, Mingan Sauriol on keyboards, Simon LâEspérance on guitar, and Dominique Blouin on bass. Their early albums Sphere (2004) and Kaleidoscope (2006) were instrumental prog rock releases influenced by jazz-fusion. Karcius gained international recognition after signing with Unicorn Digital, participating in festivals such as the Montreal Progressive Music Festival and Prog in the Park. In 2008, they released their third album, Episodes, which marked a high point in their instrumental sound. Following Dominique Blouin's departure in 2009, Sylvain Auclair joined on bass and vocals, shifting Karcius' style towards art rock and progressive metal. Their subsequent albums included The First Day (2012), featuring West African percussion, and The Fold (2018). In 2019, they released a live album titled Live in France.
