June of 44, an American rock band, was formed in 1994 from ex-members of Rodan, Lungfish, Rex, and Hoover. Their debut album Engine Takes to the Water (1995) drew comparisons with Slint and Will Oldham. The following year, they released Tropics and Meridians. June of 44 toured extensively, reaching as far as Australia. Their sound evolved from a post-hardcore and math rock base to incorporate experimental jazz, ambient dub, and angular post-punk. Subsequent albums include Four Great Points (1998) and Anahata (1999). The band split up in 2000, with members pursuing various side projects. June of 44 reunited in 2018 and released a new album titled Revisionist: Adaptations & Future Histories in the Time of Love and Survival (2020).
