Georgel Julio Arevalo Reyes-Rosas, known professionally as Julio Reyes, was born on January 18, 1985, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Inspired by his mother's mariachi vocals and grandfather's musical heritage, Reyes and his brothers would often put on musical performances for their family at a young age. He attended Berklee College, earning a degree in vocal performance and composition. In 2012, Reyes reached the finals of the talent competition Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento on Estrella TV. Following this breakthrough, he released his debut album No Inventes (2012) under Sony Music Latin. The lead single "No Inventes" peaked at number 40 on the Billboard Regional Mexican Songs Chart. Reyes' music was featured in various television shows and films, such as the soap opera Dos Hogares and the film Pecado Mortal: Historias de Corrido (2014), which used his track "Sin Verguenza" as its main movie theme. Reyes also co-wrote songs for pop artists such as Chiquis, Gloria Trevi, and AnahÃ, and released the single "Me Canse De Rogarte" (2015).
