JugendJazzOrchester NRW is a German jazz orchestra from North Rhine-Westphalia, founded in 1975. Established to foster young talent, the ensemble utilizes a classic big band lineup. Initially led by Glen Buschmann and Meinhard Puhl, the artistic team has included Wolfgang Breuer, Wolf Escher, Frank Reinshagen, Marko Lackner, Dietmar Mensinger, Michael Villmow, Gabriel Pérez, Stefan Pfeifer-Galilea, and Stephan Schulze. Thomas Haberkamp has managed the organization since 1996. The repertoire includes jazz classics and contemporary arrangements specifically tailored for the group. The orchestra has completed 42 concert tours across five continents. Its discography includes recordings such as First Album (1978), Back from the States (1986), Turning Around (1992), Quarter of a Century (2001), and Majority (2019). The formation received the WDR Jazz Prize in 2013.
