Juan Rivera Saavedra, known as Juan Rivera, was born in Long Beach, California to Mexican parents Pedro Rivera and Rosa Saavedra. He began his singing career at 16, releasing his first record El Atizador in 1996. Rivera is part of a prominent family in regional Mexican music, including siblings Jenni Rivera, Lupillo Rivera, Chiquis Rivera, and businesswoman Rosie Rivera. Rivera's notable albums include Borracho, Loco y Enamorado released in 2002. His songs "El Ser Equivocado" and "La Lampara" ranked on the Billboard Latin charts. He continued to release albums such as Con La Locura Norteña Y Banda Azul in 2004 and Ãnimo Delincuencia in 2008.
