Gerardo Ortiz Medina is a Mexican-American singer-songwriter in the regional Mexican music genre, specializing in the norteño, sierreño, and mariachi subgenres. He was born in Pasadena, California, on October 5th, 1989. He was raised in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. Gerardo Ortiz started in music at a very early age, starring in the childrenâs musical reality show Código F.A.M.A. He released his debut album Ni Hoy Ni Mañana in 2010, which was nominated for a Grammy for Best Norteño Album. He followed that with his second album Entre Dios y el Diablo in 2011 and his third album El Primer Ministro in 2013. In 2013, Gerardo OrtÃz won four Billboard Mexican Music Awards for Male Artist of the Year, Norteño Album of the Year, Norteño Artist of the Year, and Artist of the Year. He continued releasing albums, such as 2014âs Archivos de Mi Vida and 2017âs Comeré Callado, garnering acclaim for his corridos and romantic ballads. In 2021, Gerardo Ortiz released his album Décimo Aniversario, containing songs such as âA La Orden del Flaco,â âTranquilito,â and the emotional ballad âHistoria de Ayer,â which climbed to Number 49 on Mexico's Cosmohits chart.
