Biography
Joyo Velarde, born in 1974 in El Cerrito, California, is an American hip hop and soul singer. Her first single "Sweet Angels" was released in 2001. Notable guest appearances include "Balcony Beach" by Latyrx in 1997 and "Love Me So Bad" by Lyrics Born in 2003. In 2008, she released her first mixtape Hey Love, followed by her self-titled EP in 2009. Her debut studio album, Love & Understanding, was produced by Lyrics Born, Jake One, and Headnodic, among others, and released in 2010. Throughout her career, Velarde has collaborated with various artists from the Quannum Projects collective, including Latyrx and Lyrics Born.
