Joy Angela Villa, born April 25, 1986 in Orange, California, is an American singer-songwriter, actress, and political commentator. She began her entertainment career at a young age, appearing on Youth Network TV from ages 14 to 16. Her first singles "Cold Wind" (2011) and "Get Your Freedom" (2014) marked the start of her music career. In July 2014, Villa released her debut EP I Make the Static, which included tracks such as "Run and Hide" and "Empty." The EP gained significant attention when it reached Number 1 on digital downloads on Amazon.com and iTunes in the US following her controversial outfit at the 2017 Grammy Awards. The EP debuted at number 12 on the Billboard charts with 29,000 album equivalent units, 27,000 of which were pure album sales, ranking number 2 on the Digital Albums chart and number 6 on the Top Album Sales chart. It was also the top-selling rock/alternative album of the week.
