Jonathan Anthony Rose, born on February 19, 1951, in England, is an Australian violinist. He attended King's School, Rochester, where he studied the violin on scholarship before discontinuing formal lessons at age 15. In the 1970s, Rose performed across Australia and the United Kingdom in various genres. Rose's career took a significant turn with his involvement in free improvisation. Notable compositions include Violin Music in the Age of Shopping (1994-1996), performed with various ensembles. Rose collaborated extensively with organizations such as Ensemble Offspring and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. His radio compositions, including Paganini's Last Testimony (1988), were broadcast on international stations like the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and BBC.
