Joel Culpepper, born on May 25, 1984, in London, is a British singer-songwriter known for his work in contemporary R&B and soul music. He started his career in 2009 with the mixtape The Adventures of Pensmith. His first EP, Skydive, was released in 2012 and featured the single "Passenger". In January 2017, Culpepper released his EP Tortoise. His debut album, Sgt Culpepper, came out on July 23, 2021. Notable collaborations include appearances on DJ Yoda's "Home Cooking" and a rendition of "Silver Lining" for the 2025 tribute album Chet Baker Re:imagined. Culpepper has toured extensively, supporting artists such as Paloma Faith and Stevie Wonder, and performing at festivals like Glastonbury.
