Biography

Carlos JosÃ© "Jochy" HernÃ¡ndez DÃaz, born on September 12, 1963 and from San Cristobal Province, Dominican Republic, was a Merengue singer. As a teenager, HernÃ¡ndez began his singing career with various bands before joining the orchestra led by Alex Bueno and Anibal Bravo. In 1985, he transitioned to a solo career, signing with Discos CBS and releasing his debut single "Ahora Yo" ("Now It's My Turn"). In 1988, he released El Amiguito, which included the hit song "Hermanos Mios" ("My Brothers"), dedicated to musicians who died in a vehicular accident. Hernandez was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 1989 and died on April 30, 1994. The album Brillantes was posthumously released on July 5, 2017.
