Biography
Joan Rodgers, born November 4, 1956, in Cleator Moor, Cumbria, England, is an English operatic soprano. She studied Russian at the University of Liverpool and later trained with Audrey Langford. Joan Rodgers debuted professionally at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in 1982 as Pamina in Mozart's The Magic Flute. Her career included roles such as the Wood Nymph in Rusalka at the English National Opera in 1983 and Susanna in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera in 1989. She was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2001.
