Biography

Jo Deok-bae (Cho Deok-bae), born on August 21, 1959, in Seoul, South Korea, is a celebrated ballad and folk singer-songwriter, as well as the former CEO of Samho Camus. He debuted in 1985 with the song "In a Dream", followed by timeless hits like "My Old Story" (1986), "If You Come into My Heart" (1993), and "I Won't Sing Sad Songs" (1988). Known for his evocative lyrics and heartfelt melodies, his music has been widely covered by prominent artists such as IU, Cho PD, Sung Si-kyung, Jo Sung-mo, and Lee Soo-young. While their renditions have introduced his works to new audiences, the unique emotional depth of Cho's original performances remains unparalleled.
