Biography

Bak Chang-geun (born November 5, 1972, in Yeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea) is a South Korean folk-pop singer known for his heartfelt vocals and deep connection to Korean folk music. He gained widespread recognition after winning the audition program Tomorrow is a National Singer (2021) on TV CHOSUN. Growing up, Bak was heavily influenced by the legendary band Sanwoolim. His passion for music ignited when he first heard Jeong Tae-choon's "Ah Korea" during his freshman year of college. He later joined the karaoke troupe at Daegu University, where he was profoundly inspired by folk icon Kim Kwang-seok. This experience solidified his decision to pursue a career in music. After completing his military service, Bak officially debuted as a solo artist in 1997 under the name We Are Here, Park Chang-geun. Over the years, he built a strong following, performing in university districts and folk music venues. His discography includes albums like Anti Mythos (1999), 무지개 내린 날개위의 순간 (2011), and Bak Chang Geun BEST 20 (2022). His 2022 Nationwide Tour Concert Live Album captured his emotional performances and dedication to live music.
