Jimmy Sturr Jr., known professionally as Jimmy Sturr, was born on September 25, 1941, in Warwick, New York, United States, and is a prominent polka musician, trumpeter, clarinetist, saxophonist, and leader of Jimmy Sturr & His Orchestra. The band gained significant recognition for their collaborations with notable musicians such as Willie Nelson, Brenda Lee, Arlo Guthrie, Boots Randolph, Mel Tillis, and Charlie Daniels. Their breakthrough moment included being the only polka group (and the only group with brass instruments) to appear on the Grand Ole Opry. Sturr's orchestra has released numerous albums, including Polka Christmas in My Home Town (1979), I Love to Polka (1996), and Polka! All Night Long (1997). They have won 18 Grammy Awards for Best Polka Album.
