González y Los Asistentes, a Chilean rock band, was founded in 1997 in Santiago de Chile by poet and musician Gonzalo HenrÃquez. The group's style blends recited poetry influenced by Beat Generation figures like Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac with traditional Chilean poetry and the rock music of artists such as Tom Waits and Nick Cave. Their debut album, Cerrado con llave, was released in 2001. In 2003, they released their second studio album, Repite conmigo. The band began collaborating with poet Raúl Zurita in 2008, leading to the creation of the album Desiertos de amor (2011), which featured Zurita's recited poems and was performed live in Chile and Argentina. González y Los Asistentes also contributed to various soundtracks, including Estadio Nacional (2001) and Sexo con amor. La música que no acaba (2003).
