At age 14, he began studying boogie-woogie, inspired by pianists such as Albert Ammons and Pete Johnson. Bertrand's career took off when he started recording albums from 1989 onwards. He has performed extensively in jazz clubs, festivals, and private events, collaborating with artists such as Ray Bryant and Axel Zwingenberger. Bertrand's performances include unique settings like the North Pole and Taiwan, showcasing his versatility and reach. He is also known for organizing the "Jazz and Boogie Piano Nights" in Paris and the "Beaune Blues Boogie Festival" in Burgundy. His style blends improvisation with jazz standards, maintaining a strong swing element. Bertrand's repertoire includes classics like "Yancey Special" and "Honky Tonk Train Blues."
