Biography
Anderson Meade Lewis, who went by the name Meade Lux Lewis, was an American jazz pianist in the 1920s who specialised in boogie-woogie. He played with major jazz artists and influenced performers who followed decades later including Keith Emerson and Keith Richards. He continued to perform until he died aged 58 following a car accident in 1964. His biggest hit was the 1927 recording 'Honky Tonk Train Blues', which has since been covered by many other artists. Albums include 'Boogie Woogie' (1941), 'Cat House Piano' (1955) and 'Barrel House Piano' (1957). He also appeared as the piano player in the scene in which James Stewart as George Bailey is ejected from a bar in the 1946 film 'It's a Wonderful Life'. Compilations include 'Spirit of Boogie Woogie' (2015).
