Biography

Christian Dozzler, born on September 22, 1958, in Vienna, Austria, is a guitarist and singer known for his work in blues, Chicago blues, and zydeco. He began playing classical piano at age five and later taught himself blues and boogie-woogie. By 14, he started playing harmonica and guitar, forming 'Backyard Bluesband' in 1976. In 1984, Dozzler joined Austria's 'Mojo Blues Band,' touring and recording with them until 1993. He then led his own band, 'Christian Dozzler & The Blues Wave,' from 1993 to 2000. Relocating to the United States in 2000, he became a keyboardist for Larry Garner's band and settled in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, in 2002. Notable albums include Smile Awhile (1998) and The Blues and a Half (2008). Dozzler has collaborated with various artists, including Anson Funderburgh & The Rockets and Mike Morgan and the Crawl. He received the Concerto-Poll 1998 award for Best Blues CD.
